The Fish and Wildlife Service Experienced Services Program was established to create a unique partnership to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The Fish and Wildlife ESP connects experienced workers (age 55+) to the Fish and Wildlife Service to provide scientific, technical, and administrative services in support of the Fish and Wildlife Service priority multiple-use related programs and authorities. The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as Enrollee and are not employees of FWS or National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). NEW Solutions is the ESP Non-governmental organization (NGO) responsible for administrative aspects of the Program, and the Enrollees work under Fish and Wildlife Service direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out the Fish and Wildlife Service mission. Fish and Wildlife Service ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current, to access new training opportunities, to engage in gainful project-based positions, and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy and their own financial security. Background security investigation may be required prior to start date. Location, hours and hourly pay are noted in this position description. FWS ESP positions are meant to provide temporary, project-based support. This position is currently funded for approximately 2080 hours flexibility to work 32 to 40 hours per week. Qualifications:Minimum of 2 year(s) of experience in government process improvement, government permitting, or IT knowledge management OR BA/BS Degree in library science, communications, IT knowledge, biology - Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS SharePoint, MS Teams, Adobe
- Service Now Knowledge management skills desired, but not required.
Duties:ePermits is an online system that allows permit applicants to apply for permits from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) electronically. ePermits also supports the agency?s staff in processing the applications. The ePermits Knowledge Manager is a pilot position that will assist ePermits to make available and accessible information needed by the public and agency users of ePermits through the ?ePermits knowledge base? so that ePermits may become an effective source for FWS?s permitting information. - Curate existing content in the knowledge base 10%
- Assess missing content and unmet content needs 10%
- Collect and curate missing content and collaboratively create new content 50%
- Establish best practices for maintaining the knowledge base at a high level of integrity 20%
- Make recommendations to ePermits team about the information architecture, technology, and the overall structure and use ePermits knowledge base. 10%
Other:- There may be IT-related training or agency training required because the incumbent will have access to a live production environment that contains agency records.

- Travel Requirements: We envision the person traveling to West Virginia for a workshop in July 2024.
- Overnight travel: 1 week in West Virginia
- Air travel anticipated: 1 trip that will last one week.
- Physical requirements: The work will be largely sedentary
