The Senior Environmental Employment (SEE) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Administrative / Office support for individuals age 55 and over to support the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) through a grant administered program through National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise and experience will truly be valued. You'll be working side-by-side with EPA staff that are doing important work every day. Pay & Benefits: Pay rate: $19.21 /hr. Benefits: Paid Health Insurance Premium if working 30+ hours per week, Paid Vacation, Paid Sick Time, Paid Federal Holidays plus one Individual Holiday, and optional Vision and Dental Insurance available. Must be U.S Citizen and age 55 or older to apply. Applicants must live within commutable distance to downtown San Francisco and be willing and able to work onsite in the EPA office as scheduled.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in project management; managing/maintaining records; and/or providing analytical and research support OR BA/BS Degree in Science degree helpful

  • Good writing and organization skills a must; should have experience creating spreadsheets, Word and Powerpoint documents, and using data bases. Analytical and research skills a plus. Attention to detail is critical.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS SharePoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook, Copying Machine
  • MS office 365 ( Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)
Duties:

Manage databases, spreadsheets, and other records related to the regulation of Class VI Underground Injection wells for geologic carbon sequestration; advise and recommend course of action to EPA staff lead; assist EPA staff in the development of project related documents and strategies for enhancing regulatory compliance and for management of supporting documentation, progress reports, and records retention/disposal; train staff on database and other records-related procedures.

  • Manage Class VI UIC permit records and data; develop outreach materials, project tracking documents, and analyses to assist with program implementation; develop reports and advise and make recommendations on data/record and project management; develop strategies for increased efficiency in program implementation   70%
  • Provide analytical and program support for UIC permit implementation (e.g., prepare briefings, analyze data, develop fact sheets and project summaries).   20%
  • Screen/assess public comments and organize Agency responses; develop administrative record for final permit actions.   5%
  • Administrative duties (transcribing paper records to electronic system, archiving, copying, mailing, managing Regional Records Center material, and filing).   5%

Other:
  • Training will be available on all of the business machines/software (noted above) used in our office. Technical training will also be provided so that enrollee gets a basic understanding of the functions and responsibilities of the Groundwater Protection Section and their specific position
