The Senior Environmental Employment (SEE) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Administrative / Office support for individuals age 55 and over to support the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) through a grant administered program through National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise and experience will truly be valued. You'll be working side-by-side with EPA staff that are doing important work every day. Pay rate: $19.21/hr. Benefits: Paid Health Insurance Premium when working over 60 hours in 2 week pay period, Paid Vacation, Paid Sick Time, Paid Federal Holidays Plus One Individual Holiday, and optional Vision and Dental Insurance available. This position requires a background security check including 5 year questionnaire, fingerprinting and identification verification prior to start. Please note that due to EPA Policy, this opportunity only applies to United States Citizens. Applicants must live within commutable distance to downtown Dallas and be willing and able to work onsite in the EPA office as scheduled. Bilingual in Spanish and English required.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in Chemistry, Engineering, Biology or other science-related experience. Experience in computer application, database management, and marketing OR BA/BS Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Biology or other science-related degree; or Marketing or Information Technology.

Duties:

This position will assist the EPA Region 6 Dallas office with outreach efforts on Brownfields, various Pesticides program initiatives, Lead Based Paint program, Sustainable Materials Management, Pollution Prevention, and other regional priorities that support these programs. Provide professional support to EPA Region 6's outreach programs by developing partnerships and providing outreach and education related to program rules, regulations, and best practices; providing technical and compliance assistance to the regulated community, contractors, consultants, property managers, landlords, and child-occupied facilities, as well as pediatricians, building code officials, and the general public.

  • Support Brownfields, Pesticides (Worker Protection, and Integrated Pest Management), Lead Based Paint Poisoning Prevention, Pollution Prevention, Sustainable Materials Management and Smart Sector outreach, education and program prioritization. Write success stories, newsletter articles, and updating websites.   50%
  • Provide critical support and expertise in the form of: 1) Brownfields grant workshop registration and logistics 2) Programmatic record keeping, filing and management 3) Maintain and update programmatic Continuous Improvement Process, Flow and Huddle Boards.   30%
  • Support various Pesticides Program initiatives (i.e. vector control, etc.) and Lead Paint Risk Hazard Reduction programs. Answers the Region 6 Pesticides and Lead Paint Hotline providing responsive material to caller and/or directing calls as necessary to appropriate staff.   20%

  • On the job training via webinars and conference calls.
  • Travel Requirements: 5-10 days per month
  • Overnight travel: 5-10 days per month
  • Air travel anticipated: 2-3 trips per month
  • Rental cars: 2-3 trips per month SEE enrollees MAY NOT operate government-owned vehicles.
