Qualifications:Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience in Biological Science related to Plants and Conifer Trees OR AA Degree with minimum additional experience of 12 year(s) in Biological Science Technician related to Conifer Tree Seed Orchards, Seed Handling, Genetic Tree and Seed ID Data base Tracking Experience - Ability to perform conifer tree seed germination trials. Knowledge of conifer tree genetic identification numbers. Experience working in a conifer tree seed orchard and understand layout rows and columns. Ability to operate plant x-ray machine, microscope, and data max label machine. Skill to identify forest cone and seed insects and how to monitor for them in the seed orchard. Knowledge of conifer tree cones, how to extract seed, clean, test, handle, weigh, package, and store the seed. The ability to run equipment to extract and clean and test conifer tree seed.
- Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
Duties:The enrollee will train and mentor employees: inspecting and packaging seeds, weighing and testing seed, conducting seed viability testing, germination protocol and germination testing, facilitate safe and long-term storage of biological materials, inventorying tree reproductive buds, collecting pollen, pruning and staking trees, identifying and treating seed/plant diseases, producing and maintaining tags, gathering scion (plant material), grafting seedlings, and tending to the health of existing grafts. The ESP enrollee will also train staff in these scientific operational techniques, building long-term skills within the agency and supporting efforts to supply improved seeds for future timber harvests.

- Required Safety Gear: Safety goggles/ glasses, gloves, hard hat, ear plugs
- Safety Gear Use: Safety equipment will be used out in the field while working around trees and when operating equipment.
