For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States. NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, technical, and operational support to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP). Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee. PLEASE NOTE: An ?Enrollee? is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An ?Enrollee? is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions. This position is funded for 650 hours. Qualifications:HS/GED Degree with minimum additional experience of 5 year(s) in operating agricultural tractors and implements in sometimes technical terrain, including slopes and pond/ditch edges. - Driver?s License
- Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Teams, Adobe Acrobat
Duties:This position requires proficient and safer operation of agricultural tractors, and associated implements, to mow flat surfaces, slopes, and the edges of ponds and ditches. - Maintain agricultural tractors and other equipment in clean and safer operating order. 10%
- Mow herbaceous vegetation throughout priority areas of the James Campbell and Pearl Harbor National Wildlife Refuges 60%
- Coordinate with maintenance team, and amongst other teams, and supervisor, to identify priorities and share information. 10%
- Use tractor implements for pesticide application and woody debris removal. 10%
- Support other maintenance team operations and projects, including light maintenance, light carpentry, and demolitions. 10%
Other:- Required Certifications: FWS Heavy Equipment Training (can be obtained after hire); Defensive Driver Training
- Health and Safety Considerations: The employee will undergo standard onboarding safety training, and will read through station safety plan and job hazard analyses. They will also take defensive driver training and heavy equipment training if they havn't already done so.
- Required Safety Gear: All PPE will be provided.
- Physical requirements: This work is performed in Hawaii where it can be hot and humid. They should be able to climb in and out of agricultural tractors, and pull warehouse doors with a chain.
