The Fish and Wildlife Service Experienced Service Program was established to create a unique partnership to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The Fish and Wildlife ESP connects experienced workers (age 55+) to the Fish and Wildlife Service to provide scientific, technical, and administrative services in support of the Fish and Wildlife Service priority multiple-use related programs and authorities. The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as Enrollees and are not employees of FWS or NOWCC. NOWCC is the ESP Non-governmental organization (NGO) responsible for administrative aspects of the Program, and the Enrollees work under Fish and Wildlife Service direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out the Fish and Wildlife Service mission. Fish and Wildlife Service ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current, to access new training opportunities, to engage in gainful project-based positions, and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy and their own financial security. Background security investigation may be required prior to start date. Location, hours and hourly pay are noted in this position description. FWS ESP positions are meant to provide temporary, project-based support. Hourly Pay: $25.00 per hour / 20 hours per week. Position may be performed remotely. This position is currently funded for 20 hours per week for an estimate of 26 weeks (this is subject to change based on budget and other factors). Please note: Applicants must be 55 years of age or older and be authorized to work in the United States.


Minimum of 2 year(s) of experience in converting documents to Section 508 compliant pdf documents and to remediate non-compliant pdf documents. OR HS/GED Degree in Computer Science OR Previously completed training in Use of CommonLook Section 508 compliance pdf software is a plus.

  • 2-3 years of experience with Section 508 pdf remediation. Expertise in remediation of other types of information and communications technology (like video) a plus but not required.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
  • CommonLook, Adobe Acrobat Pro

The enrollee will be assigned to fulfill requests from NCTC staff for conversion of WORD or PowerPoint documents to compliant pdf format and for remediation of non-compliant pdf documents. Enrollee may also be asked to help support coordination of requests and delivery of finished Team products
