The Agricultural Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Agricultural support for individuals age 55 and over to support the Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) through a grant administered program through National Older Worker Career Center (NOWCC). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise and experience will truly be valued. The NRCS provides an opportunity to work side-by-side with NRCS staff that are doing important work every day. Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in Natural Resources Planning Field OR HS/GED Degree

  • Valid State Driver's license
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
Duties:

Provide technical support to the Area Office and Area 1 Field Offices with conservation duties as necessary to implement Farm Bill Programs.

  • Assist area and field staff with the necessary documents required to put together clients? six-part contract folders, and getting them ready to move from pre-obligation to obligated contracts. This will include uploading documents to the DMS, getting landowner signatures, coordinating with FSA on producer records. Other duties as assigned.   20%
  • Assist area and field office with whatever documentation is needed to pay for completed practices, such as generating 1245 forms from Protracts for payments, making phone calls to producers to schedule time to sign documents, fax/scan/upload payment documents and job sheets to Area reviewers, and send reminder letters.   20%
  • Assist Area Staff with ordering, reconciling orders, distributing supplies as received by the Area Office for distribution. Assist the Area Office Assistant and field offices with any necessary tasks such as producer and compliance mailings.   20%
  • Assist the Area Resource Soil Scientist with HEL determinations and associated paperwork. Act as a backup HEL determination person when ARSS is out. Train to do Cultural Resource Reviews as a backup for Area CRRs. Collect information necessary from field staff for CRR submission.   20%
  • Assist soil conservationists in field offices with producer conservation needs and plan development, including, but not limited to: cost estimates, resource inventories, and running assessment tools.   20%

Other:
  • Complete annual agency and department training (i.e. computer security and privacy training).
