The Senior Environmental Employment (SEE) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Administrative / Office support for individuals age 55 and over to support the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) through a grant administered program through National Older Worker Career Center (NOWCC). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise and experience will truly be valued. The EPA provides a wonderful work atmosphere, and you'll be working side-by-side with EPA staff that are doing important work every day. Pay & Benefits: Pay rate: $21.01 /hr. Benefits: Paid Health Insurance Premium if working 30+ hours per week, Paid Vacation, Paid Sick Time, Paid Federal Holidays plus one Individual Holiday, and optional Vision and Dental Insurance available. Due to COVID-19, this position may be eligible for telecommute until instructions are given on when to safely return to the EPA facility. Must be U.S Citizen and age 55 or older to apply.


Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in one or more of the above disciplines/areas of study. OR BA/BS Degree in Environmental Engineering/Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, or Geochemistry

  • Will be required to pass a 5 year security background check including fingerprinting and ID Verification.
  • Experience required with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint
  • MS Office ( Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint, MS Teams)

Collaborate with a dynamic team of scientists and engineers, to provide critical scientific and technical expertise for all Underground Injection Control (UIC) activities in USEPA Region 9, including permitting and oversight of Class VI carbon sequestration projects. Functions will include UIC permitting activities and high level technical assistance.

  • Provide expert level review, analysis and recommendations related to UIC permits and all permit-related actions (e.g., permit modifications)   75%
  • Provide complex technical support to UIC program   10%
  • Independent review and analysis of complex data systems.   10%
  • Engage and contribute to high level UIC projects and other duties as assigned.   5%

  • On the job training about EPA business practices and on-line UIC related training courses are available, as needed.
