Lead the development of the landscape resilience strategy document for the Tahoe Central Sierra Initiative as part of the Science Team for TCSI. Toward that end, the contractor will function as a member of the science team, and help strengthen coordination and communication between the science team and the other component parts of the TCSI organization, with science collaborators, and with entities that exist within the TCSI landscape.

  • Develop the document for the landscape resilience strategy for the TSCI landscape, which will serve as the primary management direction document that translates research findings into management commitments. Work collaboratively with the science team and The Nature Conservancy in this endeavor.    30%
  • Attend weekly science core team meetings (1 hr) and follow-up work sessions and calls as needed. Attend science coordination, core team, and pace and scale working group meetings to build bridges in content and communication between these groups and the science team toward the development of the landscape strategy.   10%
  • Support the Conservation Investments initiative interface with the blueprint and the landscape resilience strategy, including attending core team meetings for that effort and associated partnership meetings and connection.   20%
  • Develop a story map for the TCSI blueprint and landscape strategy.    10%
  • Help recruit members for the blueprint user group and help build connections between what individuals needs, how we are building the blueprint, and how users can apply it to meet their needs, with particular emphasis on NFS.    10%
  • Help strengthen connections between the pieces of the strategy and the Steering Committee so it reflects and accommodates their needs and desires, with particular emphasis on NFS.    10%
  • Help support the exploration of how the blueprint and the strategy can support and contribute to the development of a 20-year plan for the TCSI landscape and other mechanisms that will help the TCSI landscape meet shared stewardship objectives.   10%

  • Overnight travel: Possible, but no particular plans at the moment.
  • Rental cars: Maybe, given that travel will be occasional and use of a FS vehicle may not be convenient.
  • Required Safety Gear: Note: Two computer screens to reduce eye strain.
