Conservation Programming Support: Civil Engineer Enrollee

Telework will be allowed for project analysis, summarizing field notes, and filling out and emailing inspection forms.


Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience OR BA/BS Degree in Agriculture, natural resources, agronomy or related field of study.

  • Forest Service Construction Contract development and administration experience. Qualifications of 0810 series.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
  • MS Paint

Mentor engineers in project development and contract administration. Enrollee will also conduct project inspection including filling and submitting diaries to the Forest Service Contracting Officer Representative (COR).

  • Travel Requirements: Day trips only to project locations across the Subregional Engineering Organization and adjoining lands utilizing government vehicle.
  • Health and Safety Considerations: 1) Defensive Driving - addressed by on-line training, 2) Field work in remote areas - review of field work Job Hazard Analysis (JHA); Forest provided safety gear, as needed; and check out/check procedures with Program Manager/Monitor.
  • Required Safety Gear: Forest will provide required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to perform work activities covered by JHA for field work assigned (except field boots provided by enrollee).
  • Safety Gear Use: Field work involving excursions off existing roads, around construction equipment, and project sites.
  • Physical requirements: Able to traverse project sites in remote areas, cross country travel by foot to conduct field surveys, ability to work around construction equipment safely.
