This is a mostly virtual position. Enrollee may telework up to 90% of salary days. Office and field work are necessary to complete assigned tasks for the lands and minerals group.


Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience OR BA/BS Degree in Agriculture, natural resources, agronomy or related field of study.

  • Possesses 25+ years of U.S. Forest Service Lands and Minerals program experience.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
  • NRM Minerals Database

Provide guidance and mentoring to Lands and Minerals program managers and specialists for the White River National Forest. Provide expert advice & professional judgment about Lands and Minerals program areas. Provide training and interpretation of USFS policy and regulations.

  • Conduct Minerals and AML program review assigned tasks.   40%
  • Conduct Lands program review and assigned tasks.   40%
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to FS employees.   20%

  • Enrollee will need to complete Computer Security and Awareness training. Enroll may be required to take any other FS mandated training such as Defensive Driving, Sexual Harassment, Ethics & Conduct, etc.
  • Required Safety Gear: Hard hat, safety glasses, and safety vest (as needed).
  • Safety Gear Use: Enrollee may use safety equipment when visiting projects situated on abandoned mine lands.
  • Physical requirements: Ability to: drive for long distances on Forest Service roads; hike in rugged terrain carrying a pack; and ATVs or UTVs use. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
