Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in Biology OR BA/BS Degree in Wildlife biology, environmental science

  • Experience working with wind and Habitat Conservation Plans.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS SharePoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook, MS OneDrive

Serve as an advisor for staff and management on wind projects in Missouri. Review reports and make recommendations associated with the following wind projects: High Prairie, Kings Point, North Fork Ridge, NEMO, and Firebrick Wind Facilities. Assist in the development and review of avoidance and minimization recommendations for high risk facilities. Review and recommend tools that analyze monitoring data from wind farms to answer questions from the Service.

  • Read and review permit study plans, annual reports, seasonal reports, past EAs, and other documents supporting the projects, providing comments and recommendations    50%
  • Attend conference calls and meetings, both with internal and external teams    10%
  • Evaluate avoidance and minimization proposals and develop a list of potential additional avoidance/minimization measures    10%
  • Develop a streamlined EA template with input from wind practitioners, managers and DOI solicitor.   20%
  • Assist in strategy development of a wind HCP template for high risk areas    5%
  • Assist in collating monitoring reports from Wind Farms in Missouri to assess natural resource impacts from wind energy developments within the state    5%

  • FWS systems if needed
  • Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to Missouri Field Office for meetings. Possibly twice per year
  • Overnight travel: Occasional for above mentioned travel
  • Air travel anticipated: Depending on enrollee location, twice per year
  • Rental cars: If air travel is necessary, rental car may also be necessary
  • Remote work arrangements are available for this position.
