This position supports the U.S. Park Police of the National Park Service. The NPS Experienced Services Program is a unique partnership created to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The program connects experienced workers (age 55+) to the NPS to provide scientific, technical, and administrative support. NPS ESP positions are meant to provide temporary, project-based support. This position is currently funded for an estimate of 56 weeks. A background security investigation may be required prior to the start date. Only those positions with 30+ hours per week are eligible for health insurance benefits; all positions will accrue sick leave. The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as Enrollees and are not employees of the NPS or NEW Solutions. NEW Solutions is the ESP non-governmental organization responsible for administrative aspects of the program, and the Enrollees work under NPS direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out their mission. NPS ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current; to access new training opportunities; to engage in gainful project-based positions; and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy, and their own financial security.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in logistics and supply chain management OR BA/BS Degree in General business or related OR Previously completed training in Military supply chain management (creating stock records, levels setting, determining reorder points, high limits, low limits, shelf life management, uniform management, inventory, etc.

  • Prior military logistics or supply chain experience is preferred.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
  • Adobe Acrobat, USPP automation programs
Duties:

The enrollee will provide assistance with logistics and supply chain management for the United States Park Police.

  • Assist with ordering, receipt, issue, shipping, warehousing, storing, inventory and disposal of USPP property.   70%
  • Assist in implementing new software programs to manage equipment and supplies, including bar coding.   25%
  • Assist in supporting special events (e.g. Memorial Day, July 4th, Presidential Inauguration, new recruiters in-process).   5%

  • Required Certifications: Clean driving record (no excessive traffic violations)
  • Travel Requirements: Local travel in and around the DC, MD, VA area
  • Required Safety Gear: Must wear back support and closed toe shoes while engaging in warehouse operations.
  • Physical requirements: Applicant should have no physical profile/physical limitation and be able to lift 50 pounds. Position requires frequent lifting and moving of supply/equipment/ boxes, sometimes with material handling equipment (e.g., a Dolley or manual/electric pallet jack, step ladder) and sometimes by hand. Position may also, on special occasions, require extended periods on your feet.
