The Agricultural Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Agricultural support for individuals age 55 and over to support the Department of Agriculture?s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) through a grant administered program awarded to National Older Worker Career Center (NOWCC). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise and experience will truly be valued. The ACES program provides an opportunity to work side-by-side with NRCS staff that are doing important work every day. NOTE: Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period of time. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NOWCC is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NOWCC and the Enrollee is an "at-will" relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate his or her enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NOWCC and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee. NOTE: An ?ACES Enrollee? is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NOWCC. An ?ACES Enrollee? is a participant in a grant program, which is established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the USDA-NRCS and administered by NOWCC.


Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in Soil Conservation Technician OR AA Degree in Range, Agronomy, Soils

  • Valid driver?s license; rangeland management expertise
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
  • AutoCad

Assist Resource Team 5 in supporting the delivery of Farm Bill programs. Technical work will be performed in support of the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) and Conservation Stewardship Program (CStP). ACES enrollee will assist staff in completing layout, design, and checkout of engineering practices related to conservation programs. Enrollee may also assist with other conservation planning responsibilities, as needed.

  • Make approximately 10- 50 field visits to meet with producers to determine conservationneeds and assist with conservation practice development.   30%
  • Design proposed projects using appropriate eFOTG Practice Standards and Specifications.   30%
  • Uses a genaral equipment, engineering level and/or measuring wheel to estimate planned practices and make a final measure of completed practices.   20%
  • Conduct site inspections on projects to assure that practices being installed meet technical agency specifications   20%

  • Annual information system security, anti-harassment, and civil rights training.
