This work would include field-going activities, but some data processing, reporting, ETC. Could be done in a remote office telework.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience OR HS/GED Degree

  • A valid driver's license. Knowledge of a wide range of technical civil engineering methods, principles, and techniques sufficient to develop and review plans, Specifications, and estimates for proposed Forest Service roads and associated structures. Knowledge of construction techniques to interpret and apply them to contract plans and specifications. Knowledge of safe work practices and hazard analysis.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
  • Federal Equipment Database (FED)
  • Vehicle Card Monitoring (WEX)
Duties:

This individual is considered to have demonstrated a range of fleet and road experience; knowledge and judgment to provide mentoring and training in Fleet programs and databases, vehicle ordering and disposal, driver licensing, and road maintenance.

  • Provide Mentoring and training to forest service personnel in design, contract preparation of roads.   75%
  • Prepares and/or performs technical reviews of engineering design and contract packages.   25%

  • Health and Safety Considerations: Review of appropriate Job Hazard Analysis for given projects, ACES Monitor to approve.
  • Required Safety Gear: Personal protective gear such as gloves, hard hat, safety vest, and safety goggles/glasses.
  • Safety Gear Use: Personal protective gear shall be worn while on the project site.
  • Physical requirements: Physical requirements include the dexterity to reach, stand, climb, move, considerable walking, stooping, bending, lifting up to 35 pounds and the ability to work outside in environmental conditions.
