Availability for mentoring will fall within normal business hours M-F 0700-1700 hrs. Work on technical documents may occur during any days and hours during the performance period. This is a virtual position.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience OR BA/BS Degree in Agriculture, natural resources, agronomy or related field of study.

  • Prior certification as a USFS silviculturist, and working familiarity in the silvics and
  • ecology of forest systems in the Blue Mountain Ecoregion of NE Oregon and SE Washington.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point, Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS), Field Sampled Vegetation (FSVEG)
Duties:

The enrollee will provide mentoring to silviculturists on the forest who are working towards certification. In addition, the enrollee will finish the Blue Mountain revised suggested stocking guide technical publication. The enrollee was a long-tenured Forest Silviculturist on the Umatilla NF, has written several general technical publications and white papers, and served on at least a dozen silvicultural certification panels.
