This is a virtual position.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience OR BA/BS Degree in Agriculture, natural resources, agronomy or related field of study.

  • Skills in vegetation data management and mentoring.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point, ARCVIEW (GIS), Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS), Field Sampled Vegetation (FSVEG), Forest Service Activity Tracking System (FACTS)
Duties:

Provide Professional Silviculturist Service to Siuslaw National Forest.

  • Mentor New Silviculturists.   60%
  • Conduct Comprehensive stand vegetation Spatial mapping and attribute development for FSVeg Spatial and forests landscape analysis.   20%
  • Permanently establish plots in the STUDS (Siuslaw thinning and underplanting Density study) and continue utilizing study data and site field trips.   10%
  • Incorporate a stand density diagram with plotted STUDS growth responses into the forest prescription spreadsheet.   10%

  • Travel Requirements: May involve occasional travel to meetings.
  • Required Safety Gear: Hard hat, boots with field appropriate soles.
  • Safety Gear Use: Safety equipment required for on food travel in forested environments.
